As a biological concept, an adult animal or human is one that has completely matured. Adult is a term used in the context of human beings in order to define social and legal concepts. Legal adults and not "minors" or "non-adults are those who are over the age of majority and is thus considered to be independent, responsible as well as self-sufficient. They may also be regarded as a "major". The age of 18 is the standard legally-adulted age at which you can become an adult but this could vary based on the country of origin and legal status, as well psychological maturity.
